I would prefer to email you directly instead of leaving a general blog comment with regards to your article ‘State of Emergencey’ Friday Khutbahs in the US’, but I coulcn't find a direct email address for you. I am a 35 yrs old African American woman who converted to Islam when I was 23 yrs old. Bluntly, I can state that Islam saved my life! I would like to send you a copy of my bio, I am a poet as well and my poetry is based on spirituality and the benefits of Islam. I could never have become muslim without going to a Friday Jumah that inspired me so much that it changed my life overnight! I am saying that to say that there is a jumah hidden on the southside of Chicago that YOU MUST ATTEND. Every Friday I am there with bells on, leaving refreshed an inspired. I leave work every Friday to go to jumah, with any employer I have, this is non-negotiable for me. The power has never went down since I first heard it in November of 1996. If you are looking for a hidden jewel, where everyone leaves as if the jumah was for them, please stop by one Friday. The address is 461 E. 83rd Street, be there at 1:15pm. Jumah starts promptly at 1:30pm. I promise you will experience what has saved my life! REAL ISLAM! We also have dhikr every Saturday night at 8:15pm, starting at 8:30pm, same place. I look forward to seeing you, especially in this blessed month of Rajab, where Allah is looking to give to his servants, you are in for a treat. Please email me your adsress so I may send you my bio, if you are interested in my poetry cd just shoot me an email or give me a call. My poetry is largely based on where I came from (the streets)and what Islam has done for me. I am looking forward to meeting you.Your Sister in Islam,Zakiyah lking@habitat.com
