Announcing the "Questions From a Student" series

I am announcing the “Questions From a Student” series of articles on God, Faith, and a Pen. So many times, when I ask a question that others can’t answer, the response is, “Well, you’re not a scholar.” No, I am not. But, that still does not answer the question. For example, when a hadith is quoted to me that contradicts the text of the Qur’an, and I bring this up, I am told, “Well, you are not a scholar.” So what? The hadith still contradicts the Qur’an. “Well, you are not a scholar.”

Fine. So, I am going to ask my questions in an open manner because, as I have been multiply reminded, I am not a scholar. I hope a scholar can then answer my questions. And I am going to start with a question I have had for quite some time now: why the law is deduced out of context. Stay tuned…
