In the Name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful
I have been told – many times over – that “all Muslims are not terrorists, but all terrorists are Muslims.” This is based, I presume, upon the news reports of the horrific things so-called Muslims commit in the name of Islam. I abhor and condemn them unequivocally.
Yet, there is nothing like a beautiful theory that gets utterly destroyed by an ugly little fact. It is not true that “all terrorists are Muslim.” Take this article as a case in point, entitled, “FBI searching for militant Puerto Rican separatists”:
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — FBI agents returned Monday to the homes of two Puerto Rican activists whose properties were searched in February in an investigation into a militant group seeking independence for the U.S. island territory.
FBI teams went to the apartment of Liliana Laboy and the house of Norberto Cintron Fiallo, both in the San Juan area, but neither activist was home at the time and the agents left without entering.
FBI spokesman Harry Rodriguez said the agents went to the homes as part of an ongoing investigation into the Macheteros, also known as the Puerto Rican People’s Army. He declined to provide details or say whether agents planned to arrest the activists or search their homes.
“This has nothing to do with the people that support the independence of Puerto Rico by legal means,” Rodriguez said. “This is simply a continuation of the criminal investigation of the terrorist organization, the Macheteros.”
Both homes were among those searched on February 10 as part of the what the FBI said at the time was an operation aimed at thwarting a “domestic terrorist attack” by Puerto Rican militants. No arrests have been made so far in the investigation.
Laboy’s lawyer, Roxana Badillo, said the latest search was intended to intimidate activists who planned protests on Saturday to mark the first anniversary of the death of Filiberto Ojeda Rios, a militant leader who was shot and killed by FBI agents who came to arrest him.

Now, has anyone called these guys “Christian terrorists”? Of course not, and such a term should not be used. It is not only inaccurate, but inappropriate. These militants do not represent the majority of Puerto Ricans – many of whom I have worked with and are wonderful people – or even the majority of Christians. This makes sense, does it not?
Yet, when it comes to the crimes committed by Muslims, they are used to impugn the entire faith and its people. This is wrong. The terrorists, murderers, “jihadists,” militants, suicide attackers, etc. are a criminal element among Muslims. They cannot be proof of the “evil” of Islam. Just as the criminals amongst us in America should never be cited as proof of the “evil” of America.
Let us take the recent unfortunate events surrounding the Pope and his comments. The violent reaction of some Muslims is simply stupid and abhorrent. Torching churches and killing nuns is barbaric. It should never have been done. Such stupid actions on the part of some Muslims really makes me angry, and my whole purpose in writing is to educate the world about true Islam and distinguish it from the violent mutations which have sprung up.
I pray for the Lord’s help in this endeavor. Amen.
